Welcome to Internetsafety.ie, the website of the Office for Internet Safety

The Office for Internet Safety is an Executive Office of the Department of Justice and Equality.

The Office for Internet Safety has been established by the Government to take a lead responsibility for internet safety in Ireland, particularly as it relates to children. The Office for Internet Safety aims to build linkages and cohesion between all Departments and agencies to ensure that the State provides the best possible protection for the community and promotes internet safety, particularly in relation to combating child pornography.

The Office for Internet Safety will build on and oversee the current self-regulatory framework which is in place under the Internet Service Providers Association of Ireland (ISPAI) .

This year, Safer Internet Day will be celebrated around the world on 7th February 2012. The theme is connecting generations and the slogan is "Discover the Internet together...safely!".

To mark the day the Office for Internet Safety has published an information leaflet on Internet safety for both parents and children, a bookmark as well as a awareness poster highlighting the top tips for keeping safe on the Internet. These will be distributed to each Library Authority and will be made available in public libraries on Safer Internet Day. Click here to find out more about Safer Internet Day 2012

The National Parents Council (NPC) Primary will deliver internet safety workshops in various locations nationwide. Click here to find out if there is a workshop near you
